Endodontics

E ndodontics is the dental treatment used to remove the infection from the dental pulp, which is the innermost part of the tooth. In most cases the infection of the pulp is caused by advanced caries or an accident and can cause severe pain in the area as well as inflammation or even fever. When we detect this dental disease it is necessary to perform endodontics in order to prevent the infection from spreading and save the tooth.

Endodontics is the treatment to solve a more respectful pulp infection with the tooth, as it saves the patient’s natural piece.

What is endodontic treatment?

Endodontics is the treatment used for remove the infection from the pulp and keep the tooth healthy. During the procedure, the affected tissues are removed, the cavity is cleaned and the cavity is refilled with a plastic material. Finally we rebuild the tooth with the help of a bolt and assess if a crown is needed.

The method is painless and postoperative discomfort is non-existent or minimal.

Why perform endodontics? Are there other solutions?

Endodontic treatmentis a solution minimally invasive, that is, it respects and preserves healthy dental structures

Another solution is to remove the tooth and place a prosthesis in its place, but it is a treatment that we only recommend in case the natural tooth is very damaged and it is not possible to save it. At the Dental Clinic Dr. Gisbert is a supporter of save and maintain the natural tooth whenever possible, as there is no other piece better than the patient’s own.
